HBO Talks to Skarsgård About Being “Amnesia Eric”

Posted on the 10 August 2011 by Truebloodnetcom @truebloodnet

Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Sookie (Anna Paquin)HBO asks all the big questions that fans of True Blood are so desperate to hear: How are fans reacting to Eric and Sookie hooking up? Is it difficult being “Amnesia Eric“? Will Alcide stand a chance with Sookie?

Alexander Skarsgård was candid in his replies. While he admitted that he is not terribly fond of checking the Internet to see how the Sookie and Eric relationship is panning out with fans, he is happy to chat to them in person about this relationship:

“It seems that people are enjoying Eric’s arc, which is great because I had a blast shooting it. I love playing ‘Amnesia Eric’. It’s just such a different side of him, and it’s always fun as an actor to dig deeper.”

Skarsgård was clear in the fact that he was playing a ‘side’ of Eric, and not an entirely different character. He wanted people to still see the Eric from previous seasons. So there are still indications of that dark, predative side, as well as a side of him that possibly hasn’t been seen in a thousand years.

HBO also brought up that sex scene, in episode 7, ”Cold Grey Light of Dawn.” While the scene occurs in several locations, Skarsgård admits that it is not the most graphic scene he has ever done, but it is close to the top of the list. He also hinted at an upcoming scene:

“…these were definitely some pretty intense scenes. We were kind of all over the place. But my favorite scene is yet to come…”

Hmm, wonder if that scene is the same one fans of the books have been hankering for? Only time will tell.

Skarsgård was then asked if he thought Alcide would stand a chance with Sookie, further on down the track. There was a resounding “No,” from the actor. It seems that the werewolf-vampire feud runs deep.
