Culture Club is back! I just wanted to get that out there before talking about Boy George‘s new summer single “Nice and Slow.” There’s a new album coming from the band that gave the world one of the most beautiful 1980s ballads “Victims (which I always think has been cruelly overshadowed by Karma Chamaeleon as their best work) and come Christmas time they’ll hit the road for the first time in years. But before all that we can enjoy George’s smooth dance number that’ll have you sipping pina coladas beneath the palm trees in no time. The mood is a balmy afternoon and the message is clear. Boy George is happy and very comfortable in his reggae skin. The lyric tells the tale: “I’ve got my sparkle back again”. I’m so happy to see George at such a serene place. His trials and tribulations have been many, but this new chapter puts a smile in my heart. Somehow it makes me believe there’s hope yet for us all.
