Sometimes the best album discoveries are not the lead singles but found by chance. I was listening to Mariah’s new album Me. I am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse (fabulously grandiose title) and whilst I loved Mariah’s duet with Miguel (#beautiful) and the gospel version of the George Michael classic One More Try, the song that made it to my Spotify playlist immediately (and is on constant repeat) is the sophisticated 1970s throwback Meteorite. This is Mariah at her most elegant. Her voice really is a wonder. When you’ve got it, you’ve got it, and there’s no need to even flaunt it. This is my Friday groove.
