Harvey Nichols Leeds Spring/summer 2013 Fashion Show

Last night saw Yorkshire’s most stylish come together at Harvey Nichols Leeds to enjoy the luxury retailer’s Spring/Summer 2013 fashion show.

Housed in Leeds most exclusive shopping destination the Victoria Quarter was transformed into a high fashion runway with the production theme taking inspiration from futuristic materials, creative projections and stunning lighting.

At the start of the evening guests were treated to a glamorous drinks reception before being ushered to their seats along a catwalk which ran the entire width of the beautiful Victoria Quarter arcade.

Ahead of the first trend taking to the runway the impactful sound of broken mirrors and shattered fragments echoed throughout the venue before the first model stepped onto the catwalk sashaying over shards of glass cleverly projected along the mosaic floor.

The show encompassed a carefully curated showcase of the key looks for Spring/Summer 2013. The first was ‘White Out’; a scene of purity and neutral tones. Simplicity at its best with fashion labels including Alexander McQueen, Gucci plus ‘new breed’ brands Acne and DKNY.

‘Foiled Again’ then followed; a stunning and lustrous display of metallic material and ultra-modern fabrics from the likes of Burberry, Alice + Olivia, Michael Kors and Faith Connexion.

Guests were then introduced to ‘Colour Pop’, a look owned by the statuesque male models. From primary hues to pops of color the trend is set to inject a sense of stylish fun into Spring/Summer wardrobes.

Designers including Mary Katrantzou, Malene Birger, Sophia Webster and Just Cavalli took center stage in the penultimate look entitled ‘No Limit Print’. Guests enjoyed a fabulous exhibition of artistic color and print with an evident trend of no holding back.

Lastly was the grand finale; a stunning display of ‘Fantasy Frocks’ and the ‘Timeless Tux’. Strutting down the length of the runway the models presented a feminine array of styles and silhouettes from ethereal gowns to sexy power dresses by designers Amanda Wakeley, Catherine Deane and BCBG Maxazria. The menswear offering was the epitome of tailoring with runway debuts from Tiger of Sweden and contributions from fashion powerhouses Dolce & Gabanna and Balmain embracing a stylish collection of dapper jackets and gentlemen’s eveningwear.

Hair styling was provided by the award winning Russell Eaton hair salon and makeup by international favourites MAC.

With front row guests including Olympic gold medallist, Nicola Adams MBE and actresses Gaynor Faye, Nicola Wheeler and Michelle Hardwick from ITV’s Emmerdale this year’s show is being hailed one of the best yet.
