Happy Holidays: Holiday Wishes for You

By Shauntee @shaunteebattie

Merry-Christmas-In-Different-LanguagesHappy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Joyeux Noël, Buon Natale, Feliz Navidad, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and all that good stuff :)

Let me take this time between wrapping last minute gifts and brining my turkey to say Happy Holidays to everyone. I hope that this holiday brings you joy and happiness.

I know I’ve said it before, but I can’t believe how fast this year has flown by. The older I get the faster the time flies! Let us remember that this holiday is not about fancy presents under the tree; that is merely an added bonus. The true spirit of the holiday is about family, kindness, togetherness, and love.

Regardless of any religious traditions you may have, these 4 words are present in any celebration. May we be kinder to each other, help each other through hard times, unite as a family, and show love towards each other. May we cherish the good times and hug each other just a little bit tighter this holiday.

Every day when I turn on the news, I hear about families all over the world who have lost someone dear to them, especially last week with the Connecticut school shooting. As I type this post, I am grateful for the family that I have and that I get the opportunity to spend another holiday with them. My grandmother just totally killed my collard greens (cooking is not her thing) trying to help me out, I just told my baby sister to shut up for the thousandth time this year, I just sent my brother to the store for some milk and had to pay him $5.00 to do so, and my mother is now attempting to watch Twilight for what seems like the billionth time. It is these things that make me appreciate having them close to me during this time of the year.

So in closing, I’m wishing that you and yours have a wonderful holiday and that you take the time to appreciate them despite the fact they may rattle your nerves sometimes (like mine). Hug them a little bit tighter, smile a little bit more, and be gracious for that off the wall gift you may receive from Aunt Edna this year.

May you be richly blessed this holiday season
