They’ve been married for 29 years. Isn’t that so cool?
I got them fun gifts since next year is the big 30. Dad received a bottle of his drug of choice (aka caffeine free diet coke) and Mom got her very own box of her favorite crackers: Triscuit Cracked Black Pepper and Olive Oil.
Teal was their wedding color so I used a little teal ribbon with the raffia. So cute. They really liked their gifts.
To celebrate we all went out to dinner on Cannery Row. It was such a beautiful night. Normally, Monterey is really foggy and cold but we’re in Indian Summer so it was a really nice fog-free evening.
I’d made reservations for us at a local favorite, Paradiso Trattoria. It’s always delicious and has great views of the bay. With a night like this… a view was a MUST.
Aww… they still work together. So cute.
Isn’t that a great view? It was so clear we could see Santa Cruz across the bay. That only happens a couple times a year.
After we sat down we all ordered waters and a little calamari appetizer to share.
I attacked the calamari. And I devoured 3 slices of bread with this yummy pesto spread. I was hungry!!
Grandma came with us and Jaemen (the MAMO Brother) couldn’t because he’s in tech week for his murder mystery dinner theater group. They’re doing a murder in a few weeks and we’re going. I’m so excited.
For dinner I had one of the specials. It was a fresh caught Swordfish filet (blackened) with a lemon caper butter (holy I’m going to healthy living hell for that one… nothing that tastes that good is good for you.
) on top of garlic mashed potatoes and fresh sautéed veggies along the rim.The fillet was huge. If you haven’t had Swordfish before it’s a really hearty white fish. Closer to the texture of shark.
I tried not to eat the whole thing. After I devoured the Swordfish I left about a third of the mashed potatoes and some veggies but our waiter sort of forgot about us and didn’t come back to take our plates… I got my second wind after 20 minutes and ate the rest of the taters.
Don’t judge me. It was THAT GOOD!
Right across the street from Paradiso is a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Co and Dad convinced me we needed some dark chocolate to celebrate. Love Dads!
I had a caramel square dipped in dark chocolate and topped with sea salt.
No comments are needed, right!!
It was such a great night. I love my parents and wouldn’t trade them for new ones, EVER.
Sweet and Salty, uuber status!
This morning I took sweet and salty to a new level.
For breakfast I made a slice of cinnamon raisin toast with a little butter. Then I fried an egg topped in salt and pepper and ate it on top of the toast.
Your welcome!
this is possibly the best idea in the history of ideas.
A little Butter Toffee coffee on the side.
I went to the gym this morning and rocked it on the elliptical, 30 whole minutes. Not too shabby.
“Progress”
I feel like I’m finally starting to get back to normal. It’s hard and my heart & feelings hurt 134% of all the time. But it’s the little things. I’m going to the gym again. I’m blogging and it isn’t all weird like the last 2 weeks of random posts. I kind of have to fake my enthusiasm here on the blog and in life situations but faking one day will become real. I hope each day becomes just a little bit easier than the last.
Tell me about you!!! I want to know…
What is your favorite type of fish (to eat)?
I don’t know this is hard!!! I really like Swordfish and Halibut.
