Hanging Out With An Ex: How Merriam Webster Calls Foul.

If your boyfriend/girlfriend is hanging out with their ex..
Hanging Out With An Ex: How Merriam Webster Calls Foul.
I am going to go along with your hopes that this ex is not a problem but first I have to state what is most likely happening. If your man has not hooked up with his ex during their little visits the reason is: 1) Food Poisoning 2) She Is On the Rag 3) She wants him to wait until two more meetings before she gives it up. 4) She is still deciding if she wants to do it or not. 5) His girlfriend said its play date with the past or a future with her. 6) Rare: She only messes around with him by kissing and then stops. 6) If your man hangs out with his ex, his ex think that you are not important to him. Why? Because if you were her that is what you would think. It's not that he doesnt care its that hes willing for others to assume he might not. He chose her even though he was going to hook up with the ex if his girlfriend still excepted the bull shit. Okay. First of all if you're worried about this or even questioning how you feel about your boyfriend/girlfriend hanging out with their ex then it's a problem. Since I am  a chick who likes dudes I'm going to write this is as if I am talking about a guy here. But this applies to everyone, so you get the drift.
I love the dictionary! It always takes us back to what real and what's not at least by definition.
The definition of friend: friend  Who is your man a 1,2,3,4?
n.
1. A person whom one knows, likes, and trusts.
2. A person whom one knows; an acquaintance.
3. A person with whom one is allied in a struggle or cause; a comrade.
4. One who supports, sympathizes with, or patronizes a group, cause, or movement: friends of the clean air movement.
5. Friend A member of the Society of Friends; a Quaker.
All right let's look at number one in the definition list of options first.
1. Number one: Your boyfriend obviously knows the person, likes this person,  (or he would not be wanting to spend time with them), but does he trust this person? I thought exes were exes because there is a lack of trust..
And even if this relationship was Platonic you need to ask yourself. Why in the hell did they break up in the first place? If he knows her, likes her, trusts her and wants to spend time with her even if it risks pissing you off then why did they break up at all? Also, once you break up for any reason you don't trust the person the same way, even if the relationship ended cordially. Basically, MEANING: you don't trust her exes!
My boyfriend applies to number one?
2. A person whom one knows: an acquaintance. If your boyfriend is using his friendship to define his ex is an acquaintance. Acquaintance means you could identify them in a line up and if you saw them in public you know them well enough to feel the need to verbally acknowledge their existence. Here are some examples of who I would personally consider an aquatint: your best friend during first through fifth grades mother, your mother or father's old best friend, coworker, your school security guard, your old co-worker, a friend who was a friend by association: A friend during your class or during a certain task and then when the task was over or classes ended that friendship ended, someone who you think you know. And a girl/guy that you can't tell or remember if you slept with or drove you home one early morning in your party post.

To add-(the definition of acquaintance is so short there's no point in copy paste or using examples.) The definition of acquaintance literally is knowing a person exists. An acquaintance is not a close friend or someone that you plan to spend time with by definition. If this were the case: then there would be no problem. You can't get pissed if your boyfriend is aware that his ex is alive. But obviously that's not the issue we're talking about.
My boyfriend applies to number two
3.  Number three usually applies to friends of the same-sex category in terms of conjoining example: Fraternity sister or brother – blood brother – soul sisters – brother in Christ, or sister in Christ. War Brother, Cell Mate, Member of Camp Troupe, etc.. -You get it.
My boyfriend applies to number three
4. Number Four is just the same as three except this would be a close member of this kinship:
A closer example of number three--instead of climate this person might be your bunk mate in the cell-your soul sister in your particular chapter of the soul sisters-brother in Christ that attends your Bible study-War brother in your face up proximity during a long period of time – in camp your bunk mate within your troop.

My boyfriend applies to number four

5. A friend within a society of Quakers-so this doesn't apply because this is about your boyfriend/girlfriend and not a community or a group of Quakers.
My boyfriend applies to number five
So if my boyfriend sees his ex-girlfriend and now I know by definition he is not friends with her what does this mean? Answer: it means there's trouble. Stay tuned for my second and the third part of the post this week on hanging out with your ex. Okay. First of all if you're worried about this or even questioning how you feel about your boyfriend/girlfriend hanging out with their ex then it's a problem. Since I'm a chick I'm going to write this is as if I am talking about a guy here. But this applies to everyone so you get the drift.
