I am pretty embarrassed about the 'before' picture as it is a complete mess! Like I have said a million times before, I am really trying to get the house sorted this year and the hallway was the one place I couldn't wait to tackle. I used to cringe whenever anyone came round as they had nowhere to put their coats and most of ours were chucked on the floor!
You can clearly see the coat hooks had fallen down and despite me trying to put them back up numerous times, in the end I just admitted we needed a bigger one as we were just piling too many coats on them! You can also see our hallway is teeny tiny and so we had to find the best way to create more storage.
I knew our shoe cupboard wasn't big enough for all our shoes even at a push so I wanted some baskets, so we can chuck them in there and they still look a bit prettier than just being on the floor! These are the wood and willow rattan baskets from notonthehighstreet.com. They come as a set, one is slightly smaller and holds all Sienna's shoes and the bigger one holds most of mine. They are only £9.99 for the set which I can't believe! For big, great quality baskets you'd normally pay so much more! I think it looks so much better and I'm really happy with them.
The coat hooks we went for eventually were the pine coat hooks by hafod farm on notonthehighstreet.com and I am so impressed! It is actually a lot bigger than I thought it would be as I didn't look at the measurements but as you can see, we definitely needed it bigger and this is perfect!
I love how rustic it is and the distressed color. It is chunky and solid so hopefully won't fall down like the other one! It also has the really handy shelf on the top which just gives us that added bit of storage for pens and letters! For the price, I think it is excellent!
To hold our pens and business cards etc up on the shelf, we're using this little guy from home bargains. He is actually meant to be a remote control holder but we would never use it as that so he has a whole new purpose and home now! I think it works well :)
Above the shoe cupboard we had a big bare space that was quite an awkward size and I thought adding this canvas would be a great homely touch. I love quotes so think it goes well in our home and it fitted perfectly without measuring it first, phew!
Overall I think it looks SO much better and I no longer cringe when people come over! We have a lot more storage and I think it just looks and feels more like a nice family home!
