POW! BAM! BIFF! The Dynamic Duo are at it again against Mr. Freeze in the latest issue of Batman ‘66.

This issue is part 2 of the storyline where Batman and Robin have to see who is responsible for a snowstorm in the middle of Summer.  Knowing the keen intellect of our Caped Crusader, he figured out who it was in a Bat-Minute.

It started in the previous issue (#27) where is was a very hot Gotham day and Mr. Freeze was disguised as an ice cream vendor.  As the Gothamites came to purchase a delicious cool treat, he offered to sell them a contraption to work as a personal air conditioner.  Unbeknownst to them, as more were on, Freeze could take over for Mother Nature and make it snow during the Summer.

After Bruce and Dick got one of the “You-Cooler” devices from Aunt Harriet, they quickly figured out who was behind this and sought out to find Mr. Freeze.  They hopped onto their rocket powered Bat-Ski’s and whooshed into Gotham to find him.  After locating the center of operations, Freeze meets them outside in a tank.  With some swift thinking, Freeze was trapped in a barricade of ice.  Now commences the classic fighting sequence like the TV show did.  BOOMF! KICK! SLAM!  Mr. Freeze is captured!

That is a basic rundown of how this story arc went.  If you are a fan of the 1960’s Batman TV show, you should love these books.  I choose to purchase and read these books digitally on comiXology.  Lots of them are what they call Guided View Native books.  If you have never read a digital book, this is the way to read them.  As an example of how it works: you will click once to see a panel of Batman fighting a thug.  Click again and see the same panel with his leg kicking the thug and the word KICK! popping up…almost like the TV show did.  Another thing with the Batman ‘66 series, is they bring in different artists and writers.  During issues #24-#26, the artist changes things up a bit but keeps the same feel with the old TV show.  Don’t chill out too long and pick up this book for a fun read.
