The fashion week gods have bestowed their makeup wisdom onto us with time to prepare for the warmer months. This Spring and Summer, wave the 90s nostalgia goodbye and expect to see big hair, bold colours and lots of sparkle, as we welcome in the biggest style trend of 2017 – the 80s!
Dewy Moon-Kissed Complexion
The sheeny Summer glow is going to be big this year, and it can be easily achieved by adding a light-weight illuminating foundation into your makeup bag! The dreamy and minimalistic look gives a beautiful youthful glow to your complexion that will have people falling over themselves in the street. Designers like Ellie Saab and Versace perfected this look at fashion week, and the moon-kissed dewy glow made their models look borderline angelic!
Sparkles
Whenever you think about the 80s, sparkles and glitter and sure to follow. If you’re already obsessed with glitter makeup and adding sparkle to your look, then you’re going to be absolutely ecstatic about this makeup trend. Sparkles are breaking out of their barriers and spilling onto the streets. So as glitter comes into its own this season, make sure that you embrace the sparkle in your everyday look! At fashion week, models were spotted all over the runways with glitter and sparkles peppered all over their faces and slathered under their eyes. Fendi and Gaiambra teamed different glittery looks with their designs, from glittery lips, to more creative styles, with makeup on their ears, hair and cheeks. This season, it’s all about the 80s sparkle.
Bright Eyes
“Disco eyes” were an all-round favorite on the runways at fashion week. The pastel palettes and romantic pinks, that we have all grown to know and love, are being replaced with their bolder and brighter cousins. Our eyeshadow palettes by the end of Summer are going to be filled with different shades of orange, purple, and even blues and greens, so embrace the 80s madness – it’s fun! To bring this 80s nostalgia into the modern day, team your colourful eyelids with graphic eyeliner, so get practicing your signature cat-eyes, flicks and sweeps!
Big and Bold Lips
SS17 is going to be all about gothic tones and bold colours, and all of the pale pinks and natural lip colours that have been an all-round favorite are going to be no more! Spring and Summer are going to bring a little bit of edge to our lips. ACNE and DKNY demonstrated this fabulously at fashion week, with their models sporting gothic and gray coloured lips that turned heads on the runway. If you want to be envied for miles around, be sure to let out your dark side and welcome the deep, gothic tones into your makeup bags.
