Attention Beauty Lovers. Today, Stephanie will be taking over the blog to share some of the “trashy” makeup habits we are all guilty of. I am so excited to have her guest posting again and I hope you love her post as much as I do! Take it away Stephanie!
Let’s face it, ladies: I know you have some “trashy” makeup habits you use. It’s okay to admit it since most people don’t know you’re doing it. I thought it would be fun to explore the Internet and see what other women are doing behind the curtain while applying their makeup. While some of these habits are funny, it could be leading to problems you didn’t know existed.
1. Failing To Clean Your Brushes
Most people rarely clean their brushes. If you are one of them, you might be wondering why the bristles of your brushes are clumping together and becoming stiffer with time. This is simply the cause. Sometimes the bristles may even stick to your skin or fall out. You should thus clean your brushes regularly to avoid this from happening and keeping your brush in tip-top shape.
2. Sleeping With Your Makeup On
Sometimes you find yourself exhausted to an extent that you don’t have the energy to clean off your makeup before going to bed. This is a common mistake many people make, but keep in mind leftover makeup normally cause breakouts. It also ends up settling on your pores, creating an unclean surface for your next application. Don’t be lazy ladies as it could lead to a face full of acne.
3. Failure To Apply Moisturizer Before Applying Your Foundation
You should always moisturize your skin before applying makeup, and if you skip this step, your skin ends up becoming dry and uneven. When your skin is dry and uneven, spots end up sticking to makeup differently. Applying moisturizer can help create a clean surface for makeup application, so don’t be lazy with this step!
4. Matching Your Eyeshadow And Outfit
You should not go through the struggle of trying to match your eye shadow with your outfit. Instead, consider a shade that fully suits your eye color. Choose a color that creates a nice contrast, making your eyes pop nicely.
5. Matching Foundation Using Your Hand
Most people try to smear some foundation onto the back of their hands to see whether it matches their skin tone. However, what most women forget is that once they buy the foundation, they will be applying it on their faces, not their hands. The best place to spot-test your foundation is on your jawline or cheekbone.
6. Blending Foundation The Wrong Way
Most people apply foundation up to their jawline or chin, ultimately creating a “makeup mask.” The color of your face, therefore, doesn’t match your neck! Instead, you should blend your foundation into your neck to avoid this look.
7. Picking At The Cuticles
Picking the cuticles and spots is a very common habit for many. Most people prefer picking cuticles before they do their nails because they find them to be quite annoying. Picking at them can cause them to bleed, creating sores. They may also become infected, which can eventually weaken your nails. The bottom line; don’t do this!
8. Failing To Lock In Concealer
Most ladies apply a concealer in order to hide the dark circles found under their eyes, and they do this before they apply their eye shadow. This is a wrong way of doing it. You should first lock in the concealer by using a translucent powder to see optimal results.
9. Picking At The Mascara
This is another common picking habit. This ends up destroying your makeup. Picking at the mascara may also end up creating balding lashes, which can be next to impossible to get rid of.
10. Blowing On Your Makeup Brushes
Blowing on your brushes is very tempting; however, you should avoid doing this since it ends up creating a breeding ground for bacteria. This bacteria, unfortunately, isn’t healthy for anyone’s skin, so it’s best to resist the temptation to do so.
If you’re shaking your head yes to any of these tips, you may want to think again. While some are harmless, some of these tips can actually do some harm to your health, so it’s best to proceed with caution. If I’m missing any, I’d love to hear some of your “trashy” habits!
