I wanted to share with you the beautiful colors of markets in Guatemala, which is located in Central America with its coastline on the Pacific Ocean. It is found on the southern tip of Mexico, between Mexico and Honduras. Chichicastenango Mayan market, the most famous of all Guatemala’s markets is located 140km northwest of Guatemala City. Market days are Sundays and Thursdays. Although “Chichi market” is the largest and best known, it is by no means the only market to visit. Have a look at Adventures in Mayalandia to see the list of all the markets in Guatemala.

Here you will see traditionally dressed villagers in a kaleidoscope of colours. Flower vendors adorn the steps of the cathedral, making it a beautiful scene of color and smells. The vendors set up their stalls the night before and spend the night sleeping beside their wares. As the town is 6,500 feet above sea level in the Guatemalan highlands, it can get very cold for those sleeping in the street.
