Swatch and Review

I pulled out this Gosh Holographic Hero nail polish for the Lundi Leopard on Monday and thought it deserved a swatch and review of it’s own. You can see the Holographic Metallic Leopard Print Nails, incase you missed them.

Keep reading to find out what I thought of Gosh Holographic Hero. If you want to snap this gorgeous holographic polish up yourself, you’ll find the link to Shop the Look near the end. There’s an index menu to the right hand side to help you navigate.

After learning more about toxins in nail polish, I’m slowly swatching and reviewing my way through my collection, before disposing of ones that contain a cocktail of harmful chemicals. Unless I simply can’t part with it, then I’ll use it in moderation and take precautions. Read Conscious Beauty: is Nail Polish Dangerous? here if you missed it.

I used L’Oreal La Manicure 7 in 1 Saviour as a base coat. Gosh Holographic Hero sadly contains some toxins, keep reading to see if it earned it’s keep.

I actually used 3 or even 4 coats of Gosh Holographic Hero to be completely opaque. However, Gosh Holographic Hero is my only holographic nail polish, so you could say I’m slightly inexperienced in the holographic arena.

Now that I’m a bit more aware of how to work with the Gosh Holographic Hero formula, I know that you need to work fast, with a light hand and really aim for the ‘three-recommended-stripes’ to coat the nail. Overlapping on strokes can cause the nail polish to pucker and ruck up.

I found the dry time to be a little on the excessive side, and I actually smudged the polish from testing whether it was dry after a while. There’s nothing more annoying!

Although I don’t think my picture skills are doing Gosh Holographic Hero justice, it still doesn’t seem as ‘holographic’ as some others that I’ve seen online. Even in real life, under natural and synthetic light – the main focus is on the silver, with a hint of holographic goodness.

Nothing out of the ordinary to report about the bottle, or the brush – they are both fit for purpose and pretty standard.

I didn’t use any top coat because I heard that in doing so the holographic effect is dulled down. Gosh have branded Holographic Hero with the text ‘One Night Wear for Holographic Lovers’ and I believe that is due to the fact it isn’t a very hard wearing formula. I can’t see it lasting long at all without top coat either.
