Good News for Seb and I

By Kc2610 @kc2610
So now it's Seb's turn for an update. Seb and I have been ticking over the past few weeks just trying to figure out our own system since coming back from Germany. It has been a consistent problem this year that I haven't had a trainer in the UK, so we have been on the hunt to find someone who suits Seb and I and shares the same principles in training.
Ever since the 2009 Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney, where Gareth Hughes was the British team trainer to which I loaned out both of my horses, I have known and liked Gareth's method of training. The problem has always been that I went to college further south and he lived further north, and I was always based with another trainer so could not get away to have lessons with him. Finally, now that I am based on a livery yard with no trainer, I am able to get out and train with whoever I want.
So this weekend I took Seb up to Gareth's and had two lessons, one saturday evening and one sunday morning. WOW those lessons were amazing! Withing the first few minutes he had Seb sussed, and everything he said made complete sense. We worked on it in a quiet, systematic way, one which I can also use at home which is important.
The idea now is to get time off work to go there every few weeks for lessons and hopefully by next year Seb and I should be ready to start another Young Rider season positively. It's taken a while to really get to know Seb, especially as I bought him as an older horse so he had a history of training unkown to me. But finally I feel like him and I are becoming a partnership and we can only go up.
Next trip to Gareth's is next Friday and Saturday (Friday is my birthday - cool birthday present!) and then have the Excel Talent Training camp with him on the 4th and 5th of November, so a good few weeks of training ahead!
