The Hollywood Reporter reports that conservative commentator Glenn Beck has launched a line of made-in-the-USA jeans, under the brand name “1791 Supply Co.”, named after the year the U.S. Constitution was ratified.
You can watch the promo video by clicking here.
The video, featuring a voiceover that sounds like Beck first declares:
“These were the first American blue jeans. The jeans that built America.”
Okay, we’ll give Beck the benefit of the doubt, and assume the model is borrowing the first American jeans from the fashion section of the Smithsonian Institute (formerly known as the Hard Rock Cafe, Washington D.C.).
Then, it appears the model takes a swig of beer. We’re uncertain of whether the liquid is beer, especially since Beck says he has stopped drinking… but it might help explain why the model proceeds to launch a spaceship into the sky.
So move over, American Apparel CEO, Dov Charney, there’s a new potentially crazy American-made clothes manufacturer in town (or a hundred miles out of town in some desert.)
3 Other Glenn Beck-Branded Items We Don’t Need To See
1. An album called “Glenn Beck Sings The Blues… And The Muse.” There probably would be copyright issues since the band has called Beck “a crazy rightwinger.“
2. Glenn Beck & Friends Winter Outwear. Features sub-brands Mittens Romney; Mittens McConnell; and unofficial NHL Jerseys from every right-winger to play for the Dallas Stars (except Michael Ryder. Also, not available if the NHL actually has a season.)
3. Glenn Beck branded legal services. Why is there not a disclaimer in the video warning people that this is a professional space-ship builder, and not to try launching your own rockets at home? Geez, if Nissan had someone driving a car through the desert in the commercial, we’d bet there be a disclaimer… and the car’s in the middle of the desert, with nothing to hit for miles, except maybe a stray rocket ship!
