Glenfiddich 18 is a lot like the Glenfiddch 12 in that it’s a combination of ex-Sherry and ex-Bourbon barrels. The biggest difference is that it’s just aged for longer though from the taste I’d say that it also has a bit more sherry in it. So 50% more age and possibly a bit more sherry.
In Glenfiddich’s Words: Glenfiddich 18
“We use fine Spanish Oloroso wood and American oak to mature this rich, intriguingly fruity and robust oak expression, but there are many more reasons why this expression is special.
Every batch is individually numbered and carefully watched over. Each has extraordinary consistency and character from an intense marrying period, and a warming, distinguished finish.
A truly exceptional single malt, the result not just of eighteen years of care and attention, but of whisky-making craft and knowledge passed down through the generations.”
Not a whole lot else to say so let’s just dive on into the Glenfiddich 18 review.

OVERALL
Glenfiddich 18 is a great expression of Glenfiddich, but dammit I want more. This whisky feels like it has so much more to offer and I’m sure at a higher proof and non-chill filtered it would delivery that. Regardless of the age I have a hard time paying $100+ for a 40% chill-filtered whisky, I can’t lay down $100+ for something that’s 60% water; we the consumer deserve better at that price point.
That all said the Glenfiddich 18 has a lovely sweet aroma and palate that displays a balance of dark and bright aromas and flavors that continues through the finish with a sense of grace. This is a well matured malt that has a lot to offer, I just want to experience it at its best. I think it would easily land in the A- range if it was delivered in a more natural state.
SCORE: 88/100 (B+)
