Montreal is the second largest city in Canada (Toronto is the largest) with a population of 1,910,000 and the largest city in the province of Quebec. The official language of Montreal is French although you will find that this part of Quebec has more English speakers then found anywhere else in the province.

Montreal’s economy is the second largest in Canada based on terms of the GDP and the largest in Quebec. The city is an important centre of commerce, finance, industry, technology, culture, world affairs and was once the headquarters for the Montreal Stock Exchange. The service sector is also strong and includes civil, mechanical and process engineering, finance, higher education, and research and development. In 2002, Montreal ranked as the 4th largest centre in North America in terms of aerospace jobs.
