This week is national Geography Awareness Week which features GIS Day, an International Event that is celebrated in Canada from coast to coast to help promote geographic awareness.

Millions of children and adults in more than 80 countries come together to join educators and professionals who work  with geographic information system (GIS) technology.

Here are some of the many GIS Day events happening in Canada:

  • GANS GIS Day in Halifax, Nova Scotia & at COGS in Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia
  • Esri User Conference  in  St. John’s, Newfoundland
  • GIS Day – University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba
  • GIS Day – Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario

  • GIS Day – Selkirk College in Castlegar, British Columbia
  • GIS Day – City of St Albert, Alberta
  • GIS Day – McGill University in Montreal, Quebec
  • GIS Day – University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario
  •  plus many others

So make sure you take some time to attend a GIS Day event near you and help inspire younger Canadians to learn GIS & Geography!

If you have a GIS or Geomatics related event then let me know and I will list your event for free in the Canadian GIS & Geomatics Events Section that includes a listing of events, a monthly calender view and a Google Map of Canada with all listings on it.
