The subtitle of Gibraltar’s website reads, ‘taking quiet/loud and making it quieter and louder. And then, doing it again.’ A pretty utilitarian way to describe the post-punk jams of this Seattle quartet, and one that (despite its accuracy) doesn’t quite do these guys justice. It’s not just about the way dynamics set the structure for the songs off their debut EP Storms, it’s how those dynamics are subtly twisted and contorted, allowing songs like “Death Rays” to loop in and out of your ears until you find yourself just a little bit addicted.
