At the start of the year I put together a list of goals I'd like to achieve in 2013. Number one on that list was to spend more time working on Jolly Good. So far it's been a bit up and down but generally I've made a pretty positive start. One of the main things I wanted to start doing was keeping track of how much time I actually spend working on my little business. Fitting it in around my day job can be a bit tricky at times, so making sure I'm using my time wisely is very important. Luckily keeping track of this has been made easier, and much more fun, with the discovery of a handy little app called Timesheet.
Timesheet lets me record exactly how much time I'm spending on Jolly Good with the simple click of a button. I can also pause the timer in the middle of a task and then re-start it again when I'm ready. Very handy if you want to take a little tea break or spend some time cuddling a kitty. It also allows me to create tags for different tasks and displays a handy pie chart so I can see how much time I'm spending on each one. So far it looks like blogging and photographing products have been the things I've been spending most of my time on.
Overall I am very pleased with this little app. I've found it very handy and it has helped to highlight what aspects of Jolly Good I need to be spending more time on (I really want to make sure the designing and making parts of the pie chart increase). It's also been very interesting to track how much time I'm putting in. Being able to see this has definitely encouraged me to spend more time on my business each week. The only down side to the app is when I forget to press the start button. Luckily I can add tasks in after I've completed them, it just means the time may be slightly less accurate.
I'm planning on doing more of these "Getting Down to Business" posts to help me track my progress and also to share any tips and resources I find along the way. I hope you find them useful.
