As party of our Lucy Foley double bill our Book Of The Month for February is The Hunting Party. For our online Book Clubbers we have some questions below about the book for you to get involved with. Either answer in the comments section or use as discussion points at your next Book Club. Happy Book Clubbing!

The Hunting Party – The Blurb

In a remote hunting lodge, deep in the Scottish wilderness, old friends gather for New Year.

The beautiful one
The golden couple
The volatile one
The new parents
The quiet one
The city boy
The outsider

The victim.

Not an accident – a murder among friends.

Discussion Points

The following are written with the presumption you have read The Hunting Party. If you haven’t, bookmark the post for now so you can come back and answer the questions later.

  1. The book is unusual in that the identity of the victim isn’t revealed until the same time as the murderer. Did you like this deviation? Have you read any other books where this has happened?
  2. It is indicated that Heather and Doug will get together in the future. Do you think they will make a go of things? Do you think they would have got together if the murder hadn’t happened?
  3. The group of friends came across at times as quite selfish and self absorbed. Who did you like the best? Do you think you would have been friends with any of them in real life?
  4. Julien is up to his eyes in trouble yet the ending of the book seems to indicate he has escaped relatively unscathed. Do you think his illegal activities have found out by the police? If not, why not?
  5. In this type of book the setting is crucial. Do you think Foley nailed it when creating a sense of isolation? How much did the snow fall help? How much did the hunting of the stags?
  6. What did the inclusion of the Highland Ripper add to the story? Did you think the murderer was going to be an outsider?
