The Silent Treatment by Abbie Greaves

How long have you given someone the silent treatment? An hour? A day? In the case of Maggie’s husband it’s been six months and drastic action is about to be taken.

Silent Treatment – the blurb

Frank hasn’t spoken to his wife Maggie for six months.
For weeks they have lived under the same roof, slept in the same bed and eaten at the same table – all without words.
Maggie has plenty of ideas as to why her husband has gone quiet, but it will take another heartbreaking turn of events before Frank finally starts to unravel the secrets that have silenced him.
Is this where their story ends?
Or is it where it begins?

Talk to me

I couldn’t imagine Maggie accepting silence from her husband for six months. I simply couldn’t have coped and would have left rather than taken the steps Maggie took. I expected an affair and I won’t spoil the story for those who haven’t read it. There were moments of poignancy but I wanted the book to go deeper, to really explore the backstory. It was already 350 pages however so some interesting editing would have been needed. It was a slow reveal but I enjoyed reading their courtship and liked it when Maggie took over. Overall it was easy to read and ‘nice’. Perfect it you want something un-taxing to zone out in the bath to.

PS Did anyone else think the nurse was magical? I definitely thought she would turn out to be some sort of ghost or guardian angel.
