Love French fries? Chips? Many people gobble on fried and greasy food without thinking and feel at fault later. Fried food is more delicious than a fruit or vegetable. But eating fried food, even once during the week increases the risk of weight gain. Individuals with genetically weight gain disorders can face health hazards than people who do not have genetic history. Experiments have proven that people who do not eat oily food or reduce the intake of fried food are less obese. Over consumption of fried food might amplify the genetic effects of obesity. Deep fried food is bad for heart as it has got trans-fats. Fried food intake increases the sugar levels in the blood faster than the calories from pure sugar with a discharge of a fat in the body.
Genes may influence weight gain from fried foods!
A survey was conducted by Lu Qi, Assistant Professor at Harvard School of Public Health in U.S.A where more than 37,000 people participated. This survey had questions related to food intake of an individual at home and outside home, on the basis of which they calculated obesity and BMI (body mass index) score on the basis of genetic variation. The survey also included questions related to lifestyle information, smoking and physical activity of an individual. It was also found that women tend to gain more weight than men. Also an article from Harvard School of Public Health and Harvard Medical School in Boston, U.S was included in British Medical Journal (BMJ) where the experts mentioned that there is a noteworthy relation between fried food intake and genetic tendency to obesity. Eating habits which result in weight gain and obesity are munching potato chips, soft drinks with sugar, red and processed meat, sweetened beverages, and alcohol consumption.
In a long term survey conducted where 12000 men and women participated, it was observed that an average of 3.3 pounds of weight was gained by individuals over a period due to the consumption of fried food, but potato tops the list as it has starch. Potatoes can be consumed by people who are into hard core labor work. Also lean people or people who do exercise daily can eat potatoes, but that too sometimes. Daily eating potato can result in weight gain. Weight gain also happens due to sitting at one place and watching television, for sleeping less than six hours during the night or sleeping more than eight hours. Food intake should include nutritious items such as fruits, nuts; yogurt, whole grains, vegetables and some exercise can keep one fit and healthy.
A study concludes that people who have a genetic history of obesity should not eat fried or oily food, as they are at health risk. Oily food, fried and greasy food does significant impact on weight, diet leaning towards fruits and vegetables result in less weight gain. Food should be baked or grilled than fried or a low fat cooking method can be used while cooking. An amendment in the diet can reduce the effect of genetic obesity in an individual, resulting in less weight gain and more energy.
