To this day, I have never, ever seen my parents chew gum. It was seen as being in bad taste, classless and very un-lady like. Forget bubbles and then popping them - noooo way!
However, we would chew flavored gum on the playground that friends gave us or that we had bought with the stolen borrowed money.
My personal favorite was strawberry and after chewing an entire pack throughout the afternoon, blowing bubbles, chewing with our mouths open (we were soooo bad) and feeling super cool, we would make sure to spit it out before coming home. But that was way back then and if I'm not mistaken they were loaded with sugar and the taste went away rather quickly.
Through the years gum has made a significant transformation and I've seen how the fruity goodness has been making a comeback... in a good way. I mean, now it's sugar-free and chewing helps with dental health!

Anyway, Trident got in touch about their new Trident Layers flavors and it just transported me back in time. The delicious new flavors have me remembering those long summer days, running around the playground and of course, sharing yummy fruit flavored gum with my brother. Nowadays, I don't have to chew in secrecy and I can enjoy the fruity goodness anytime I want. Although when I do have some, a part of me always feels like I'm six again sitting out the garden joking around with my brother. Priceless.
