FROZEN Reads for the Whole Family!

I received a suite of books from the fine folks at Disney a few weeks back – a suite of books that accommodate every age group and reading ability.

Though my kids can’t read yet (but trust me, they’re trying!), they’ve been very, very interested in the books.

We’ve seen Disney’s Frozen twice, which is probably far less than the average American family. We’ve probably got a bit of catching up to do. Suffice it to say, though, my kids know the story, and you can imagine how excited they were when they were able to enjoy it in book form.

The first book we read was Disney Frozen: A Tale of Two Sisters, a Step Into Reading (Reading with Help) book. Each page was illustrated with scenes from the movie, the words were in large print, and the sentences not too complex – all perfect for a beginning reader. The kids loved it, plus they loved the fact that they could peruse the other Step Into Reading books featuring other classic Disney tales. This was (and will be, once they’re reading regularly) a winner.
The next tome into which we dove was Disney Frozen:  A Sister More Like Me by Barbara Jean Hicks and illustrated by Brittney Lee. We all loved this book. It’s large, the illustrations are really beautiful, and the message is timeless: embrace your individuality. For, it is your individuality that makes you so special. The book plays on Ana and Elsa’s differences becoming the true strengths of their relationship. This book was my personal favorite, and the kids loved the rhyming text.
The third and last version of the story we tried was Disney Frozen Read-Along Storybook and CD. Though read-alongs were a staple in my youth (on the record player – remember?), my kids had not yet had the pleasure. I was a little leery – when the bell chimed, would they turn the page? The kids really enjoyed this book, and the CD, which featured dialog and special effects from the movie, which made the story even more magical. The illustrations were bright and vibrant, the story easy-to-follow, and the audio accompaniment was the cherry on top. My kids really, really enjoyed this book.

The last book I received was Disney Frozen: The Junior Novelization, featuring a longer, more sophisticated version of the story, with an illustrated, glossy center section, perfect for the budding tween in your life. We haven’t yet read this one, but we will, someday. I promise.
