Friday Flowers : Hardy Geraniums

By Ronniejt28 @hurtledto60

All my attempts to be brave and positive fell apart over the last few days.  I suppose it is ok to get a bit scared and frightened at the thought of what lies ahead, as long as it is only sometimes – that’s what I tell myself.

I am still waiting to hear when my chemotherapy is going to start so, yet again, I feel my life is in limbo.  I can’t plan anything in advance until I have a date and can work around the days I have to go into the Hospital Day Unit.   This will only be one day every two weeks.  Day 1 will be a visit to the hospital for an IV infusion plus 9 days of tablets to be taken at home, I will have 5 days free of chemo making a two-week cycle.   I am due to have 12 sessions of chemo, over 6 months.  In reality it will go quickly, but with so many different side effects that may or may not affect me, it is a daunting time ahead.

The weather hasn’t helped.  Since Tuesday it is as though summer has been fast forwarded and we are in November.  The wind on the South Coast has been almost gale force at times and it has been wet and cold.  It is amazing how much better you can feel when the sun is shining and it is warm.   Today is looking better, the sky is blue and it is sunny, but we still have heavy showers and strong winds forecasted.

Not being at work at the moment, the garden is my saving grace and together with my camera, when the weather is good, I can spend hours outside photographing the flowers.  I have said many times that a main inspiration for floral photography is Liz  from Gwirrel’s Garden.   On a Friday she publishes a post called “Friday Flowers”, it has spurred me on today to pick up my camera and get photographing.

There are lots of flowers out now, but Garden Bloggers Blooms Day is due on the 15th of each month, I decided to concentrate on the various Hardy Geraniums “Cranesbill” that are looking splendid at the moment and adding shades of blue and pink to the garden.

I have bounced back now, the sun came out yesterday afternoon, I went to lunch with a friend and then on to a garden centre, where I bought a white hydrangea and large pot for it, together with lemon verbena and some other herbs.  We had such a laugh trying to get everything into her small sports car!!

I have at two more posts up my sleeve, one is the Garden Bloggers Bloom Day tomorrow the 15th and the other one will be about a forthcoming visit to Gravetye Manor, where I am going for afternoon tea and a visit to their lovely garden.   So please come back and visit the blog shortly.
