Foundry on Elm

I’d never been to Foundry on Elm in Davis Square, and I was thrilled at the opportunity to try their brunch with the Boston Brunchers. I was even more thrilled when I realized that they had not only prepared a personalized menu of house specialties for us to sample, but we would also get to try their new Parisian buffet on its very first day!

We started with a plate of warm beignets for the table. These were light and fluffy, and came with lemon curd and chocolate sauce for dipping. I inhaled mine, and restrained myself from eating a second by getting up to snap some pictures and sample a few items from the buffet!

The buffet included typical brunch fare (eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, and eggs Benedict) and a few surprises like blueberry crepes and bread pudding with apples, caramel, and pecans. My favorites from the buffet were the eggs Benedict (the eggs were done perfectly) and the bread pudding (a toss up for the best item on the menu)!

I was almost full when the entrees arrived, but that didn’t stop me from eating most of my flatbread and sampling the croque madame and dutch baby!
The flatbread was topped with over easy eggs, Parmesan cheese, truffle oil, and bacon. I had been leaning toward this, and made up my mind after our server recommended it. It was delicious, and you simply can’t go wrong with truffle oil and bacon!

I also tried a bite of the croque madame, a grilled ham and cheese sandwich topped with a sunny side up egg and mornay sauce. The ham was roasted with brown sugar and mustard, and was some of the most flavorful ham I’ve ever had. The mornay sauce was incredible, and made this my favorite dish that I tried!

The dutch baby was a sweet popover baked with brown sugar, roasted apples, blueberries, and topped with vanilla ice cream. I saved a small sliver for last and it was the perfect end to a fantastic meal!

The brunch at Foundry on Elm completely exceeded my expectations. The food and service were both flawless, and I can't wait to go back and try some of my favorites again! Thanks to Foundry and the Boston Brunchers for hosting such a great event! Foundry on Elm on Urbanspoon
