If you find yourself in Surrey this Summer, then take an hour or two to relax at Petersham Nurseries.
It would be easy to miss the entrance to the chicest garden center in Richmond, so keep your eyes peeled for the turning down a narrow road off Petersham Road.
Behind the brick walls are a series of potting sheds. Once inside you’re greeted with rustic elegance with a boho edge; herbs crammed into wooden crates, galvanised chandeliers, distressed bistro chairs and weathered terracotta pots flanked by antique aged shutters and other beautiful vintage finds.
There’s a wide range of plants available and a huge selection of herbs. Its by no mean cheap but it would be very easy to get swept away!
We stopped by the Teahouse to indulge in one of the homemade cakes (around £4.50 per slice). Thanks to the sunny spring weather we were able to enjoy outside amongst the last of the tulips perched on rickety, mismatched chairs.
Glancing through to The Petersham Nurseries Cafe, the sophisticated yet quirky bohemian theme continues with huge palm trees, coloured glass and masses of potted plants. The menu looks fab too offering simple, locally sourced food topped with edible flowers.
A little gem that’s definitely worth exploring.
