Happy WEEKEND! Finally. Wheew. I made it.
And surprise. You all did too! YAY.
So, we have a lot to cover in this post… let’s get crackin’.
Foodie Pen Pal!
I had a great pen pal this month! Her name is Julie and she is from Southern California. Her blog is so cute and fun. I check it out at least once a day.
Julie warned me about the cinnamon almonds and boy was she right. Once I tried one I couldn’t keep my hand out of the bag! Definitely Delicious & Dangerous!
She clearly read my blog because she knew all about my dark chocolate, peanut butter, pretzel addictions.
These pretzels were gone after I took this picture. Literally.
I hadn’t had anything in the box before!! Julie, you rock. Best Foodie Pen Pal box yet. I still haven’t had the Sharkies energy chews yet, but I’m saving them for during one of my true long runs before my 1/2 Marathon. Eeeeeeeee!
Yes I cuddle with food. I might be a little ashamed I actually posted this picture…
Wine of the Week!
Last night, all of a sudden my family was having pizza.
- I don’t know when the pow-ow happened.
- I don’t know when the decision was made.
- I think it might have been planned…
- I still don’t know who’s idea it was.
- And I don’t know how the pizza got to the house.
But there it was!
Since Max and I both don’t eat diary (I converted him) we get our Pizza from Papa Murphy’s with no cheese. We like the Murphy’s Combo. I ate cheese-less veggie pizza for a l-o-n-g time before I finally tried a meat and veggie one. Get the meat, it’s so much better!
Anyways, this whole pizza incident transpired really really fast. So I opened up the wine cupboard, which is filled with very random and old bottles of wine my parents have been given as gifts by people who don’t know they don’t drink… And after uncovering a Rose and a Riesling amongst countless Pino Noirs I pulled out this Cabernet Sauvignon.
It’s old. Which should make it better, right?!
Cabernet Sauvignon is known for it’s affinity to oak and because some have a green bell pepper flavor. They taste great with veggies. So I suspected this would be a great choice to go with our pizza. Plus its red and heavier so I assumed it should hold up to the stronger flavors of our combo pizza.
Lara… how’d I do?
I’m not a big red wine drinker, but the more I taste them the more I like them. I used to always think reds were very bittey and acidic tasting. I guess my wine palate is maturing.
The Cabernet Sauvignon definitely makes the drink again list… the white zin from Monday does not (and I was scolded by my wine drinking friends for pairing it with that salad.
)Oh well, you gotta start somewhere.
