By Grindinggears

FOD Launchpad

Mountain biking is something that everyone can do, regardless of their physical abilities. However, finding the right trails and locations can be extremely difficult for people will special needs – for example those requiring four wheels instead of two. But things are about to change!

Forest of Dean’s LAUNCHPAD – 4 Wheel Gravity Bike Trail

Funded by the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust and the Forestry Commission and lovingly crafted by Architrail, FOD’s LAUNCHPAD is going to be the first ever mountain bike trails build specifically for the demands of 4 wheel gravity bikes. This project has received a lot of support by Pedalabikeaway and the DTV in order to be as successful as possible. Check out the video to see what its all about:

Creating More Opportunities

We all know that taking part in any sport it all about having the opportunity available to do so. It is the hope that this project will see an even wider range of people taking part in MTB at FOD as it will become more disability friendly. The trail center is already one of the most diverse places to ride in the UK, with something for everyone from XC to hardcore DH.

The trail will be officially opened on the 31st October 2014 for both 4 wheeled and 2 wheeled bikes, so make sure you get down to check it out. It looks like it is going to be something to get really excited about and we can’t wait to see it take off.
