Fix You by Coldplay.

Posted on the 27 May 2012 by Melodicwisdom

I’ve been a fan of Coldplay for a while now. I have to say though, their best album (in my opinion) is Viva La Vida. That’s the one that really got me into their music and I listened to it a lot. A lot of memories are tied to that album for me. However, today’s song was released three years prior but it seems much longer…

Fix You was released as a single in September of 2005 from the band’s third album, X&Y. The song was written by Chris Martin for his wife, Gwenyth Paltrow, when her father died. It went to #89 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and to #18 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs. It was more successful in the UK and Canada, charting at #4.

Q magazine ranked it at #2 on their list of the 100 Best Songs of the Year for 2005.

The video above is at Lollapalooza 2011. Another great thing about Coldplay is their use of themes. I love how they pick a theme with every album and incorporate it into all the promotions for that album. Notice the “painted” piano…
