I have mentioned before, how different Michael is from myself. This again was evident last night. As we were trying to fall asleep, I jested that he should sing me a lullaby.
He began "hush little baby don't you cry...papa's gonna sing you a lullaby".
I stopped him. "What the hell was that?".
He turned and said "A lullaby, don't you know it?"
In the dark, with a look of disgust on my face, "Of course I know it, but you are singing it wrong".
He said, "No, that's the version I know".
I sat up."Well Michael, it is the wrong version".
Unimpressed with his foreign attitude to lullabys (the words by the way are "hush little baby, don't say a word, mama's/papa's gonna buy you a mocking bird) I rolled over.
He then said "I wont even tell you about the 12 days of Christmas"
"What about the 12 days of Christmas?"
I could now tell he had a smile on his face, "What do you sing for the second day?"
After mumbling the lyrics "Two turtle doves, you can't mess with the lyrics, the song is laced in biblical meaning and legend..?"
"Well I sing two snakes on skis"
"What the f*ck? Snakes on skis? Where the hell is this version from?"
"Australia..look" He got out his phone and showed me the lyrics...

There are little things that I often forget that Michael doesn't know such as when we were watching Keith Lemon with Ant and Dec, they were making a lot of Byker Grove jokes. Michael was laughing away, I turned to him and asked him if he had ever seen Byker Grove, he said no. Sad times. Why was he laughing that Ant used to be blind if he didn't realise it was a joke!? He also has never watched Fun House, The Queens Nose, Blind Date and other brilliant 90s TV programmes. He is missing out.
