By Mahnoor Malik @MahnoorMalik90

Stunning lashes and inviting eyes grace the pages of all your favorite fashion and beauty magazines. You curse your little eyes and stubby lashes, wondering how all of these models were born with such big, gorgeous eyes. Chances are, they weren’t. No matter the size, color, or shape of your eyes, there are plenty of clever makeup tricks to make them look bigger than they really are. All it takes is the right product and proper application, and you can transform your whole face by making your long-lashed eyes look wide open. Read on to learn a few tricks of the trade for getting big, gorgeous eyes.

Watch the Eyeliner

Some automatically assume that more eyeliner makes the eyes look bigger. However, overloading your eyes, especially the bottom lashes, with liner can make them appear smaller. Use eyeliner on the top lid, and try to create a line on the outer half or two-thirds of your bottom lid. Putting eyeliner on the inner lid often makes the eyes look smaller too.

Choose Lighter Shadows

When you want to highlights your eyes and make them look bigger, choose a lighter shade to draw attention. Even if you have a particular dark color that you like, select a lighter version of that shade. For example, lavender stands in beautifully for plum, and champagne replaces gold with a high level of finesse. Too much dark shadow can make your eyes look sunken-in as opposed to helping them stand out, especially if your lids and eyes themselves are small to begin with.

A Lighter Dot

Perhaps you are more drawn to dark colors or don’t want light shades over your entire lid. Try putting a dab of champagne colored eye shadow in the inner corner of your eyes right next to the bridge of the nose. This technique can help them to look bigger, but be sure to blend the champagne shadow into the rest of your look for cohesion, or it will stand out and look odd.

The Right Mascara

Big, bold, flirty eyes always require the use of the right mascara. Different brands work better for some than they do for others, but try to use one that helps to add both length and volume to your eyelashes. Look for mascaras that accentuate volume and length, to give your lashes a little extra boost. Before you put on the mascara, be sure to comb through your lashes and curl them for added appeal and intensity.

Highlight the Brow Bone

Part of making your eyes look bigger is drawing attention to them, and you can use a highlighter under your brow bones to do so. Usually, the lightest color shadow you’re using goes here; you may stick with that shadow for a highlighter or choose a formula specifically intended to highlight. Once again, always blend different shades for a seamless look.
