Velveteen, a band hailing from Germany, became popular in the US after a misleading album leak of Death Cab for Cutie’s Narrow Stairs. If I remember correctly, some of Death Cab’s songs were mixed with Velveteen’s and given different titles. People began looking for the songs and couldn’t find them..years later fans of those songs are still just discovering this great band for who they really are.
The band consists of four members: Carsten Schrauff, Christoph Faust, Christopher Sparkes, and Thomas Müller. Several years ago I got in contact Carsten who actually sent me a bunch of Velveteen stuff including the album featured above, a t-shirt, poster, and stickers. I still have all of it and I’ll never forget how nice he was. This was one of my favorite tracks from the album.
For those of you interested in their music, songs are available to purchase on iTunes. They have currently released four albums, the last being “27″ which came out in February of 2010. Firework Special is from Home Waters which was released in September of 2007.
