THE TOWN OF CORTE MADERA and the CITY OF LARKSPUR ARE REQUESTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE POSITIONS OF FIREFIGHTER – PARAMEDIC

THE POSITION
The City of Larkspur and the Town of Corte Madera are seeking employees who will be responsible for responding to fires, requests for emergency medical services, rescue operations, requests for assistance and hazardous materials incidents. The employee will perform fire prevention, inspection, disaster preparedness education and related activities.

SALARY
Current Annual Salary Range:  $81,108 – $105,734

The City of Larkspur and the Town of Corte Madera are pursuing a consolidation.  Pay ranges and benefits for each agency at this point are different.  The minimum of the range shown above is the base pay for a newly hired Firefighter-Paramedic for Corte Madera.  The maximum of the range show above is for the Larkspur Fire Engineer with a Paramedic differential.  Salaries and benefits at this point will be dependent on the position to be filled; either for Corte Madera or Larkspur Fire Departments.  These salaries and benefits are subject to change as the consolidation moves forward.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: No experience required; two years of apprentice or volunteer fire department experience is desirable.
Training:  A high school diploma or equivalent and some vocational course work in fire science or a related field.
License or Certificate:
Requires State of California certification as a Firefighter I or Fire Academy graduate.
Requires a valid California driver license with ability to obtain endorsement to operate fire department vehicles.
Requires State of California Paramedic License.
Must be certified in CPR.
Requires possession and maintenance of EMT-P Accreditation issued by the County of Marin within 30 days of employment.
As a condition of passing probation, the employee will be required to successfully complete the following:
ICS-100: Introduction to ICS or equivalent
ICS-200: Basic ICS or equivalent
IS-700: Introduction to the National Incident Management System
IS-800: Introduction to the National Response Plan
Meet requirements for “Acting Engineer”

Hardcopies of completed APPLICATION, COVER LETTER, RESUME, and a copy of applicants’ FIREFIGHTER 1 CERTIFICATE or CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION FROM FIRE ACADEMY, DMV PRINTOUT, CPR CERTIFICATE, PARAMEDIC LICENSE, and CPAT CARD (current within one year of application) must be submitted in person to the Corte Madera Fire station 14 at 342 Tamalpais Dr, Corte Madera, CA 94925 by October 21, 2016.

Applicants must also email copies of the above submittals as ONE PDF attachment titled [lastname], [firstname].pdf. to Janice Koch, Human Resources Manager at [email protected]. Emails must be emailed by October 21, 2016 by 5:00 p.m.  Candidates are responsible for ensuring receipt of application materials.  Late applications will not be accepted. Qualified candidates will be invited to a written exam tentatively scheduled for the week of October 24, 2016.
