Imagine a life without stress... it's not an easy task. It has long been known that stress is a part of life, but some of us can feel stress more than others. Let's be honest, today's world is not the most peaceful period in the history of mankind. We are in a pandemic that has been with us for many months, a presidential election that will be over soon, fires, hurricanes and other disturbing news from all around the world. On top of all that we deal with our own issues which each of us have and can be stressful.

All of these factors can very easily increase our stress levels. How do we stop and reduce tension? Albert Einstein supposedly said "life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving." So maybe the solution is even easier than you think...

Positive focus on your health in can act as a stress reliever. For some weight loss surgery is a fantastic option but even that may only take you so far. Being active can boost your feel-good endorphins and distract you from daily worries. Additionally, exercise has a positive effect on reducing the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.

One of our patients Deborah truly takes to heart these famous words of Einstein. She not only improved the quality of her health but most of all she made her life better and continues to strive for more. In her words "I want to make the rest of my life the best of my life" So let's hear more from Deborah.

"One of my new favorite activities is kayaking. It's a great total upper body workout and you get to enjoy nature". Change it up between cardio, like walking and jogging, and other days work with weights and strength training. A little time at the gym can give a good endorphin boost. Weights will help tone you and also help increase bone strength. "Take pictures of yourself so that later you can see the progress. You get so used to seeing yourself in the mirror that sometimes you don't see how you have really changed. But most importantly, love yourself every step of this journey we call life. My goal is to make the rest of my life the best of my life."

As you can see, focusing on your own health has the power to improve your life without adding even more stress. You can do this too ! As you can see the choice can be truly great, but it's up to you to decide. If you like to swim, go to the swimming pool. You enjoy the dancing ? Turn on the music and start your party 😊 Trust me there are so many options. Even just walking every day will make you feel better. Or maybe you will be like Deborah and find a few physical activities that give you great pleasure. We hope that you start a healthful activity today so that your goal will be one day closer than yesterday.
