Find The Spark: Make Your Home A Little More Fun

By Lamamma @LAmamma1

When it comes to interior design, there’s a strange focus on making things as serious and “mature” as possible. As though, for a home to be well designed and decorated, it has to look as grown up as possible. Now, there’s nothing wrong with that in principle, but it’s certainly not what everyone wants from their home. For a lot of people, the key to making somewhere really feel like home is being able to add as much life, fun, and personality to it as possible. So, if you’re sick and tired of all of the interior design tutorials that force you to stick with the same old “grown-up” designs, here are a few ways to bring some of the fun back into your home.

Colour

There’s a strange trend among a lot of interior design blog posts that seem to suggest that muted, pastel colors are the only options if you’re able to use colors at all. A lot of advice seems to suggest that the only thing that you should bother using is white or magnolia for the walls and ceilings. Now, having a blank canvas on the walls is fine as long as you’re going to add some splashes of color to them, but a lot of people seem to just stick with this bland, generic color scheme that leaves their home feeling incredibly dull. Why not embrace something a little more vibrant? Even something simple like a single feature wall could really benefit from a burst of bright color.

Furniture

A lot of people tend to just think about their furniture in exclusively utilitarian terms. Of course, this is important. After all, you don’t want to couch that’s full of lumps or a mattress that’s solid as a rock. But why not think outside the box a little bit? Why not check out a site like https://www.comfysacks.com/8-ft-bean-bag.html? A large bean bag chair is not only extremely comfy, but it can bring something a little bit different to your home very easily.

Decor

There’s nothing like putting some art on the walls to show off your personality to your guests. Of course, a lot of people would have you believe that you can only put up classy works of art by painters whose names you can barely pronounce. That’s great if that’s what you like, but if you don’t, why not go for something different. Putting things like movie or game posters in frames can update them to be a little more stylish and mature without sacrificing that spirit of fun and childlike wonder that can bring such a sense of vibrancy to your home.

Of course, this style isn’t going to be for everyone, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth thinking about. If you find yourself turning your nose up at this kind of style, then think for a moment about why that is. There’s a chance that it might just be because that’s how you’ve been trained to think. If you really give it some thought, you might find that you’d love to add a little spark of fun into your own home.
