Final Fantasy and Prada Join Forces...No. Really!

Posted on the 05 April 2012 by Kittyfairy @KittyFairy
You know every so often how a story comes along that is so weird and "WTF" that the first thing that you do is check that it is not in fact the 1st of April? Yeah, that what exactly my sentiments when I heard about the upcoming collaboration between two very different companies: Square Enix and Prada. Yep, you read that right. Apparently, Prada's latest range of Spring and Summer clothes for men, are going to be modelled by various characters from Final Fantasy XIII-2. The images are said to be appearing over a twelve-page spread in Arena Homme+ Magazine's April issue, and I honestly think that I'm speechless!!
To give you an idea of what this stranger than strange partnership looks like, here are a few images for you to erm...muse over:

So, what on Earth would inspire such a collaboration? That's all I really want to know and thankfully, Arena Homme+'s Editor Max Pearmain was happy to share:
"Our Spring issue focuses on a world of direction and escapism, and having a visually stunning video game franchise such as Final Fantasy work alongside us and a leading fashion brand like Prada to create something so unique is incredible," said Max Pearmain, Editor of Arena Homme+. "I've always been interested by the power of video games and their place in society, and the amount of work that's gone into this project blows my mind. We're incredibly pleased with the result."
Yoshinori Kitase, the Producer behind Final Fantasy XIII-2 had this to say:
"The Final Fantasy series is known for its creativity and innovation; so working with Prada, a renowned fashion house with such beautiful clothing, was a very exciting opportunity. The images we have been able to create together are vibrant and unique."
I "kind of" see why they'd collaborate, but it just boggles the mind on the surface of things, purely because fashion and video games don't very often go hand-in-hand together. For me, however, this just represents the sheer popularity of the Final Fantasy game series and it is interesting to see such a partnership. But yeah, it's still a little surreal.
