Check out all the details at Kim’s announcement post.

The theme for the first week is Nonfiction Favorites. If I were to choose my all-time favorites, I would have a difficult time keeping this post short. But I know my favorite nonfiction for 2013 and that leads to a few more books, so I’ll go with that.

My favorite nonfiction book of 2013 is Julia Child Rules: Lessons on Savoring Life by Karen Karbo. This is the fourth in Karbo’s Kick Ass Women series, books that are a quirky blend of biography, memoir, and self-help. I read two of the other books in the series this year as well:

The Kick Ass Women books are inspiring without taking themselves too seriously. They are the perfect accompaniment to a cup of tea or a glass of wine (depending on the time of day and your mood) to create a quiet moment in the day. I’m saving the first book in the series about Katherine Hepburn, How to Hepburn, as a gift to myself for the Christmas season to enjoy with my favorite unsung Christmas movie: Desk Set.

What are your favorite nonfiction books? Join us this week with your answer to that question and any nonfiction books that you review at the link list hosted by Regular Rumination this week: Week 1.
