Farewell, H.R. Giger

Farewell, H.R. Giger
Only a few weeks after I excitedly shared with you my fascination for his work, I read the sad news: H.R. Giger passed away last Monday, at the age of 74.
A prodigious and prolific artist, H.R. Giger's wickedly futuristic art, with its twisted dark beauty, leaves behind a legacy that will keep his spirit alive for many generations. From painting, to films and even rock music, his iconic characters have been assimilated into our culture. As all great artists do, he was well ahead of his time, managing to capture the imagination of those who behold his work, providing a window into an alternative world of fascinating creatures and undiscovered civilizations.
Farewell, H.R. Giger
Hans Rudolf Giger (1940—2014)
"Some people say my work is often depressing and pessimistic, with the emphasis on death, blood, overcrowding, strange beings and so on, but I don't really think it is.
There is hope and a kind of beauty in there somewhere, if you look for it." - H.R. Giger.

He will be missed.
