In all types of boats, inside the various spaces that make them up, the presence of water and air movement systems is essential. This is particularly crucial on board superyachts, which are characterized by their larger size, requiring appropriate products. EMCthe world’s leading Italian manufacturer of pumps, blowers and fans for yachts and superyachtsoffers various types of system specially designed for these boats.
Andrea Corradi from CEM explains: “When it comes to handling water and fluids in general, our range of pumps and autoclaves covers all on-board needs: from bilge emptying to fire-fighting, from pressurized water distribution for showers, washbasins and toilets to deck and chain washing, from fuel transfer pumps to emergency diesel motor pumps, and more. For superyachts, because of their size, all these products require know-how that CEM can offer thanks to decades of experience in national and international markets, evidenced by collaborations with some of the world’s most important shipyards. We take the utmost care in selecting the materials needed to manufacture our products, which must meet the highest quality standards to guarantee the long-term performance required for comfort and safety on board”.
Corradi continues: ” As far as ventilation is concerned, and in particular to ensure correct ventilation of the machine room, we design and manufacture a complete range of fans/exhausters for boats, both axial and centrifugal, available in painted carbon steel or stainless steel. Our range also includes fans/vacuum cleaners for kitchens and bathrooms, as well as ATEX models for hazardous areas (garage for annexe, battery room, etc.). We manufacture complete ventilation kits including, in addition to the fan, all the accessories required for correct on-board installation, guaranteeing optimum performance and low noise levels.” .
CEM’s product range is very broad. We asked Corradi to focus on three types of product, among those specifically dedicated to superyachts.
Bilge/fire pumps (ABR and 070 series)
When it comes to self-priming electric pumps widely used in the nautical sector for bilge pumping and fire-fighting services, CEM offers the ABR and 070 series. Series ABR self-priming electric pumps are made of bronze with a multi-stage liquid ring, while Series 070 are made of bronze with a lateral liquid ring.
CEM ABR electric pumps” The selection and use of high-quality materials, combined with excellent suction capacity (up to 6 metres) and technical and performance features, make these pumps particularly suitable for use on superyachts.” emphasizes Corradi.
CEM 070 electric pumpsTwo-pump pressure units
For superyachtsCEM manufactures innovative vertical double pressure units. These are the GD-GDV-GDE series, comprising pressure units with two self-priming electric pumps in stainless steel type J-INOX or MG-INOX (suitable for freshwater) or bronze type JBR (suitable for freshwater and seawater). GD series pressure units are horizontal, GDV series are vertical, while GDE series are horizontal with an EPC electronic pressure switch.
“These products are widely used on boats to ensure adequate and constant water pressure in on-board services such as showers, galleys, sinks, toilets, etc. – explains Corradi – The use of our GD-GDV-GDE pressure groups guarantees a higher water flow rate than traditional models, as both electric pumps can operate simultaneously or individually.“.
For correct operation, it is always advisable to associate a storage tank with the pressure group.

Finally, CEM produces and supplies some of the world’s most prestigious shipyards with complete ventilation kits, including suction systems and fans for superyachts. These kits bring together all the elements needed for perfect ventilation or suction in the engine room.
EMC ventilation kits for superyachts include a VE (painted carbon steel) or VEX (stainless steel) series axial fan certified “RINA type approved for Marine field”, an essential ANV anti-vibration ring to reduce vibration, a QT fitting to connect superyacht fans to the grille and attach them directly to the ventilation duct, and an approved fire or smoke grille.
