Well Hellooo Tuesday!
So I’m finally reading a new book. I am reading the famous 1984 book by George Orwell. Even if you haven’t read it before, I’m sure you’ve heard about it many times. That’s actually why I decided to try to read the book. I’ve heard great things about it and I’ve even heard people saying that some of the things in the book are happening right now.
So a little bit about the book:
It has 326 pages, has a weird looking cover, average language (so it’s a fairly easy read) and as stated earlier, written by George Orwell.
When I got the book I thought the cover was a little weird because it has an eye looking right at you and somehow the yellow designs and color choice made the cover look even more weird.
Now, I’m on page 54 of the book and even though it seems like I’m not that far, I am for my standards.
The beginning of the book wasn’t really captivating, so I was very tempted to put the book away but as I kept on reading, it got a little better, then good and I’m expecting it to get really great. That’s a pretty high rating for someone who has a very specific taste in literature.
I can firmly say that I am intrigued by the main character and because of him, I want to keep reading. The circumstance and atmosphere for which he lives in, doesn’t really interest me that much. I’m not sure why but maybe it’s because I watched V for Vendetta and I feel like the movie was based off the book, so I have an idea of the environment he lives in. At the same time, I’m interested to find out if the stories are parallel to each other or if they are completely different.
I think Orwell did a bad job of explaining things like New Speak in the beginning and setting the scene. I was so confused in the beginning but I figured that like any movie, eventually it’ll make sense to me. The main reason for continuing to read is, I have unanswered questions and I’m hoping that eventually things will make more sense.
Do you want to know the questions I have or will it ruin the book for you?
Fine I won’t tell you … this time … but in my next post, I’ll assume that you have already caught up to me so I’ll let it rip.
For the record I am on page 54 of the book and though I am not enthralled, I am slight intrigued and inquisitive.
