Finally the weekend is here. And this is going to be a great one here in Mumbai. Bandra Mount Mary feast is on the 8th and Ganesh Chaturthi on the 9th of September :) Weekends are always excuses to try the bright lipsticks and eye shadows which otherwise you will not be able to use if working or studying. The lipstick I shall review is called the EXCEL TWIST LIPSTICK in no.38. Yes these lipsticks do not have a name. Let us see how good they are...
Price: I got it for 60 bucks on sale. Actual price is between 120 to 150 bucks.(Still cheap right?)
Quantity: 2 gm
It has been almost a year since I have been hearing about these jumbo lipsticks, lip balms, balm stains in the market. In the US every brand has one of these. We also did have Revlon launching them some time back of course price being on a higher side. OK so what will you do if you don't have that much to spend or do not wish to spend that much?? I would suggest that you try these if you can find them. I have been using them for many years and I had first discovered them at my local shop. Since they expired I threw them out. Few months back I spotted them at a beauty store and tried grabbing some colors.Greedy me.. :p LolComing to the packaging it is a jumbo lipstick in a crayon form which does twist up and down like any other normal lipstick. There is no need of sharpening which I love, as sharpening leads to product wastage. The cap is a clear plastic one which overtime sometimes cracks :/ Overtime it may get loose and open up in your bag, hence I would not say that it is travel friendly. The lipstick is very creamy and glides comfortably on the lips.In the picture above I have applied the lipstick with a lip brush. There is no shimmer which is nice. It is always advisable to exfoliate the lips before using any red lipstick and this is no different. The shade is a blue based red with a hint of pink to it. The smell is a bit like crayon but still OK. Somehow I have noticed that all of them I own do not smell the same though. Due to its creamy nature the lipstick has average staying power and once it fades leaves a stain on the lips.
The Good:
Creamy.
Inexpensive.
No shimmer.
Twist up format.
The not so Good:
Staying power.
Availability.
Ingredient list not mentioned.
Not travel friendly.
Rating: 3.8/5
I have a couple of these and I find the jumbo twist up pencil really cute. These are really inexpensive and nice. Hence if you find them, do try them for sure.
