Ever Present: Ways to Build a Mindful Writing Up Practice

Our lives are cluttered with 24/7 news channels and our smartphones constantly pinging us every ten minutes, making it difficult to find a moment of calm. We are bombarded with news and tethered at work. It is becoming harder to find a moment to calm down, to allow us to breathe. That’s why more people are turning to mindfulness as a way of staying present, a calming antidote in a hectic world.

When most people think of mindfulness they think of meditation, maybe even be-robed monks silently passing one another in holy sanctums. With the right attitude, mindfulness can be achieved in many everyday activities.

Writing and reading, in time, open up great space for introspection and encourage peace and calm in our minds and bodies. Your mindful writing practice is a journey into your own self. Let these proven methods help you get started with your practice.

1. You can root yourself in the present

Our day is filled with distractions that interrupt our thinking and interrupt our flow. Even if you are determined to sit down and create, it is easy for a notification or a link to open on your web browser to pull us back to our phone. Perhaps you find yourself drifting into daydreams or worrying about your ever-present to-do lists when you attempt to write.

These distractions, such as our phones and worries, distract us from the moment. To build a practice of mindful writing, you first need to learn to stay in the present. At the beginning of any practice, it is important to make a conscious choice that you will be rooted in the present.

Here are some ways to do it. To start, put your phone in a different room. If you are writing on your computer, close all other tabs. You might find that your mind is drifting away from your writing practice. It may be worth taking five minutes to write a to-do listing for future evaluation. This helps you get your worries off your mind and onto the paper so that you can focus on your mindful writing.

If you get distracted, don’t panic. Everyone has experienced it at one point or another. Just take a deep breathe, then return your focus to your writing and you’ll be back at square one.

2. Make a Routine

It’s impossible to completely be free from the world. Therefore, it is important to take practical steps that will help support your mindful writing. Building a routine around your writing can both help imprint it into your day, and put you into the write headspace for setting down your thoughts.

Your routine should include steps that prepare you to write, such as making tea or getting into your favorite chair. Set aside time each day to write. It could be the first thing you do after you get up in the morning, or something that you do right before your dinner. This gives it a clear place in your day so that you don’t miss a single shift.

The greatest writers were not born that way. They made a lot of effort to establish good habits and reinforced their behavior over time. A good routine is hard work but can pay dividends.

3. Deep Breaths

Inhaling and exhaling are unconscious actions that make up our daily life. It is easy to allow this process to take place in the background. Your mind is intimately linked to your breath. Focusing on your breathing can help you concentrate and practice mindful writing.

To help you focus your thoughts and relax before you begin your writing practice, you might find it helpful to spend a few minutes focusing on your breath. Do not pay attention to your writing speed. When you get up to use your computer or take out your notebook and pen, you can often bring the stress, anxiety and busyness of the day with you into the activity that you’re about.

You can separate your mindful writing practice from the day by introducing it with mindful breathing: long, slow inhales through your nostrils can lead to natural, deep exhales through your mouth. Your body will feel calmer and more comfortable, allowing you to get into a writing flow state.

4. Reveal the Core of Your Writing Up Practice

You can change your approach to your writing up practice if it is difficult to focus on your writing or if you are having difficulty getting started. Sometimes we get too involved in creating an objective narrative. When we get too obsessed with the truth, it is difficult to pen down because everything in our story feels false.

This is how you return to the heart of what you write. Focus on your feelings and let go of the urge to write objectively. Let your subjectivity guide your writing, and your thoughts and feelings become the center of your writing project. This can ignite the fire in your writing.

5. Give up on perfection

Social media and constant comparison can lead to a tendency to attach ourselves to perfectionism. If something is flawed or rough around edges, it doesn’t make sense to do it in competitive situations. A mindful writing practice involves letting go all the toxic air that culture has inhaled into you. If you feel paralyzed or unsure about what your words will look like, it is time to let go.

Peter Stewart, a writer for Essayroo or OXEssays says, “For many people,” nothing they produce ever feels right – perfectionionism is something unattainable and always around the next corner.” “Define your own success criteria for mindful writing. This could be a page per day, or being honest with yourself on the pages. You can let go of perfectionist expectations and write for your purpose.

6. Visualize writing

Visualization is an exceptionally effective way of creating change in the world and whether it’s about career goals or strong personal relationships, visualizing positive changes in every aspect of our lives often leads to good outcomes. You can also visualize yourself writing before you even pick up a pen.

It doesn’t matter if you want to be published or just maintain a writing habit, if you feel stuck, you can take a break and visualize a positive writing process. You can think back to the great writing day that you had. This can inspire you. When you return to the present moment, things will look a little different.

7. Be Mindful of Your Observations

It is possible to develop a mindfulness-based writing habit once you’ve established it. Robert Larson, lifestyle blogger at Essay Service and Paper Fellows, says “Writing mindfully starts by making mindful observations about your world.” “Take the time to slow down and appreciate the sensory quality around you. What you can hear and smell, as well what you see.

A mindful writing practice can lead to a deeper connection with the world around us. All you need is to look.

8. Develop Mindful Narrations

You can use mindful writing to help you stay present and to expand your perspective on the world. You can do this by seeking out a quiet space that is not surrounded by your normal environment. A bustling train station, a coffee shop or other public place are great places to start.

You can begin to tell a story about the people you see, where they are, and what motivates them. You must stay present in order to build stories that are interconnected about the things you see. This isn’t about a sprawling daydream, but about getting to the heart of life.

9. Maintain consistency in your journaling

Consistency is key to a mindfulness writing routine. You can improve your mindfulness, observe the world better, and be more present by writing a little every day. There are no obstacles to overcome. You can journal in a book or in text messages. Consistency and consistency are key.

A mindful writing practice starts with a meditation. Calm your mindWith space to think and make.Concentrate on your breathing.building healthy habits. You can achieve a free mind by letting go cultural perfectionionism. In a world full of mental clutter and constant distractions, it is not easy to find peace.A little bit of dedicationEvery day can make a difference.

10. Writing an article

A clear objective is something that will help you focus and keep consistency in your daily routing. Have a clear focus on writing an article as example will lead you to search, think, write, check and at the end be happy of your result and effort. Try to recognize and be happy of your writing skills and enjoy the moment you spent with your mind focused on this. An article could be the perfect example of a great value that you will provide to someone else and will make you feel full of energy and happy to help.

11. Writing notes

Taking notes is a practice that will help you to gathering ideas, making a clear plan of your content and trying to provide the best value in the final result. As we mentioned in the previous point, expecially when writing an article, it is important to take writing notes of what you want to achieve or communicate in the content.

Your writing speed will not be so important, the most important thing is the journey! Start your mindful writing journey today!
