Perché raramente, ma in questo caso sì, le parole luxury e Africa possono stare nella stessa frase. A chi pensa che la moda sia solo superficialità e superfluo il progetto “Bring Africa to Rome dimostra che si sbaglia.

And finally the long-awaited Stella Jean. The winner of Who is on Next of the previous edition showed us that she really deserves the initial applause.
She didn’t miss anything in her collection mixing together the flavours of Africa and the styles from other countries.
A typically American allure made of retro inspired shortsr, striped shirts, straw hat and sunnies that you are immediately catapulted in one of those movies where you don’t need to close your eyes to dream.
Checkered knotted shirts, bustier dresses, bandana, large volumes and a real abacus of skirts: from the classy longuette to the funky skatert.
Fashion does not need to be luxurious to let you dream.

Gli ospiti, gli addetti stampa e tutto il panorama internazionale colora la sala con abiti dai tessuti e colori più disparati. Come per dimostrare che tutti siamo chiamati a esprimere la nostra creatività, nella vita come una passerella.I riflettori si accendono dopo un breve video su Christie Brown. Abiti con stampe etniche, ma tessuti leggeri e sottili, gonne pareo legate vistosamente, lunghezze diverse e tagli asimmetrici, il tutto su stampe batick completate da gioielli vistosi.Un cambio di musica e la scena diventa del duo Portenier Roth. Qui gli elementi cambiano. Si gioca con le sovrapposizioni e i volumi. T-shirts si intravedono sotto tuniche trasparenti dai colori fluo. Cinture bianche e nere abbinate alle fasce. Pantaloni dal taglio sartoriale con elementi decorativi e scarpe da uomo con tanto di calzini. Tessuti cangianti dai colori vivaci completati da filati opachi realizzano bizzarri completi spezzati.I colori, le texture e i pattern tipici della tradizione africana si impreziosiscono di fili d’oro.E per finire la tanto attesa Stella Jean. La vincintrice del Who is on Next dell’edizione precedente ci mostra di meritarsi lo scrosciante applauso iniziale.Non ha fatto mancare niente nella sua collezione mettendo insieme i sapori dell’Africa e gli stilemi di altri Paesi.Da una allure tipicamente americana fatta di shorts dal gusto retro, camice a righe, cappello di paglia e occhialoni. Che mi ha proiettato in uno di quei film dove non c’è bisogno di chiudere gli occhi per sognare.Camice a scacchi e annodate, vestiti bustier in stampe tradizionali, bandana, volumi ampi e un vero e proprio abaco di gonne. Lunghette, con strascico, skater e a vita alta.Perché la moda non ha bisogno di essere lussuosa per far sognare.
