So Eric Church brought the Outsiders World Tour to London, Ontario last night and lets just say this guy did not disappoint.
Now, I have to admit this might be a bit bias because well, Eric Church is everything I love about country music.
He is today’s version Merle, Waylon, Johnny and I know that’s a pretty bold statement but seriously this guy is all about the gritty side of country. In a world where we have seen country progress over the past 3 decades from the likes of Willie & Waylon to that of Eric and Dierks. Last night he played for an hour and 45 min and boy did he bring it.
The night started with Brandy Clark which I believe is the answer for female country artists today. She has written some of todays hits such as Kacey Musgraves “Follow Your Arrow” along with co writing Miranda Lamberts “Mama’s Broken Heart” . Brandy was on stage for about 20 min and boy can this girl sing. I was hoping to have had a chance to speak with Brandy but time didn’t permit. I still thing Stripes is a FANTASTIC song. Check it out here… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plPRmANJF_w
Next up was the legend Dwight Yokum, now this is the music I grew up on “Guitars & Cadillacs” & “Honky Tonk Man” he hit the stage to a thunderous ovation and he sure felt right at home. Strong vocals and a very tight band behind Dwight set the stage for the Country Music Jesus.
Eric hit the stage at 9:15 and played right till 11:05. And yes he played the hits! From the most recent Talladaga and Cold One to his Chief hits, Creepin, Springsteen & Drink In My Hand. As I mentioned I am a HUGE Eric fan and every song was a sing along for me. One of the cool spots of the show is where he has asked a fan to pick a song from the entire discography of Church’s music. (Boy I wish I was that Fan). Last night they performed one never recorded which was a treat for the audience.
Eric Church & The Outsiders Tour have 2 more stops in Ontario before they head back to the US. Tonight in Hamilton which still has tickets available and then Saturday night in Ottawa at the Canadian Tire Center. If you have time and live in either of these cities I would strongly suggest you don’t miss it! Below are just a couple images from last night.
Don’t forget that Eric is also one of the Headliners for Boots & Hearts in 2015! Man that is going to be amazing! 40,000+ singing Springsteen will be UNREAL!
