Enjoying Palembang Culinary

Local culinary is another perfect reason why people want to go back to a city. Its distinctive taste derives not only from its peculiar spices, but also from the local technique when cooking it. As we might know, Palembang is one of destination which is nationally recognized as culinary city. Not only Pempek (local fish cake) which attracts food hunters when visiting, but some unique cuisines also become famous as city’s signature dish like Mi Celor, Burgo, Laksa, Celimpungan and Model Gendum.

One day, I dropped by at a roadside stall. We ordered some dishes like Mi Celor (Noddle with shrimp creamy sauce), Lenggang Panggang (Omelet filled with slices of pempek which are stirred together and grilled, served with local spicy sweet vinegar), Pempek Panggang (Fish cake which is grilled, halved, and then filled with dried and minced salty shrimp), fish fillet smeared by flour which is fried and served with spicy creamy sauce (I forget the name of this dish), and Gohyong (pork grilled, covered by beancurd skin and then fried). Palembang culinary, albeit commonly found in Lampung, city where I live, will leave specific sensation on the toungue when consuming it in its own origin
