Emerging from the Fog

By Healingyoga

Last month I had a sinus infection...a nasty one. It lingered for over a month. I was exhausted. I whined about it a little (I don't get sick often, so I was a bit cranky about it all). I slept...a lot. I continued my yoga practice, but I noticed that my stamina wasn't up to the usual standards, so I scaled it back. Yes, I got stuff done. But I was in a fog.

Sometimes that can feel like life, eh? Going through the motions, living out habitual patterns, telling the same story to yourself over and over again. Sometimes if you're doing this on your yoga mat, you wind up injured. That injury forces you to pay attention and it forces you to live in the moment. One moment you might feel like all you can manage is Child's Pose while 1,235 moments later you may feel well enough to do your regular practice only by doing modifications for each posture. Every moment is an opportunity to learn something -- perhaps it's the lesson of not pushing yourself so much in your daily practice or it's changing the duration of your practice or maybe even changing the style of your practice and overhauling it altogether.

Rather than wait for an injury in life, why not bring this same present moment awareness and give yourself the opportunity to discover possible changes to make your life a happier and more peaceful one to live? The folks at OMTimes and GaiamTV.com are sponsoring a 30 Day Conscious Living Challenge to help you with this very thing. Over the course of 30 days, you'll explore your phyiscal, emotional, spiritual, and conscious health and tips for making small shifts and changes. The Challenge starts June 1 and it's free to participate. Click here for more information and to sign up.

It looks like June isn't just the start of Summer but of the lifting of the fog.

Namaste!
