Rumour has it, 44 editors from all the ELLE editions from around the world are in town tonight for a very special occasion – the ELLE Style Awards!
Rumour also has it that all the stars from DIFF, including “Skyfall” starlet Naomie Harris will ALSO be in attendance.
Our plan? Remain giddy with excitement on the inside while remaining completely blase on the outside.

Meanwhile… we passed by Art Sawa this morning to check out the set up, which we thought was totally cool – in lieu of the fact that they had tonnes of archived ELLE covers from decades past!
The winner of the Best Upcoming Designer award will be revealed tonight, (the story goes: all 44 editors voted in secret yesterday and NOBODY knows who has won yet!!) and all the designers were there this morning setting up their designs…

And of course, we were there setting up Zayan the Label‘s piece!

The brief?
Design something that represents both the oriental and occidental worlds.
The Result?
“My piece starts with a plain white tank top – the ultimate versatile, simple, western wardrobe staple, which I then embellished with an antique Bedouin vintage necklace, thereby juxtaposing the simplicity of the Western world with the inherently ornate nature of the Orient. These antique necklaces are actually experiencing a current fashion moment, as they have been referenced by a new crop of Western designers intrigued by the intricate craftsmanship of ethnicities the world over. I then attached a dramatic waterfall tulle skirt– a signature Zayan the Label motif– determinedly pretty, dreamy and girly, and finished it off with a silver metallic trapeze coat (another very ‘hot’ shape right now). The piece combines several elements: the girly and playful, with the clean and simple with the ornate and dramatic – coming together to form a showpiece that perfectly embodies our complex modern moment, where the whole is so much greater than the sum of its parts.” Zayan Ghandour
