Elect True and Honest Leadership

Posted on the 30 April 2013 by Azharnadeem

Pakistan electionOnce again Pakistan is standing at the crossroads of democracy from where the road ahead seems uncertain. As the polling season nears, the political parties are expecting an action packed election. When the dust settles on May 11, in the current scenario, Pakistan is expected to once again have a hung parliament and a coalition government, as no major party seems to be in absolute majority, which is obvious by the trends emerging from all the provinces. During the last tenure ridiculous inflation rates, power outages, deteriorating law and order situation, and thirst for political hegemony did tatter the very soul of this country and five years PPP regime left behind several serious problems in Pakistan some of the glaring ones being poverty, lack of water, lack of sanitation, inability to manage wastes in cities and villages, shutting down industry, massive unemployment, rampant corruption, lack of education, inadequate medical help especially to the poor, and poor infrastructure etc. Etc. The list goes on. In the next government, the nation might experience a repeat telecast of the previous five years, if not voted wisely.

Many believe this general election will be the most fiercely contested compared with previous elections for reasons known to everyone who loves this country and its future. Pakistani voters should demand candidates who are capable, dependable and dedicated to service and represent them in Parliament and the state assemblies. Above all, they should demand and vote for clean candidates whose integrity and loyalty with the country is beyond reproach, should be free from allegations of corruption, be they real or imagined, or any scandal relating to immoral behavior, money politics or abuse of power. Pakistan is a rich and powerful country. But its wealth is collected in form of black money. Some people and corrupt politicians spoiled our country. Pakistan has lots of precious minerals but they sold them cheaply. So Pakistan has to face economic problems. We know that past politicians have become rich as a result of the wealth they accumulated during their time in office. Some exhibit their ill-gotten gains openly while others are more discreet.

To be a politician has become like a profit making business, do you expect the politicians here are there for the welfare of the society, certainly not; they are there to eat their share of the cake. Gone are those days where the politicians used to stick to their words to serve the people at all costs, the present day politician have lost the faith of the people by and large. People should look at what they have achieved, what they had said they would do and what they have done. They should have created jobs and keep strengthening our economy but they have not done that. They had said they would make a difference in education, healthcare and technical training facilities; they rather reversed. There is now no possibility kids from poorer homes ever go to university due to unprecedented and unbearable fees hike. They pushed the masses with cost-of-living pressures. And they had said they would set our nation up for the future for growth and change; they have pushed the country even to stone ages.

Yes, there are also honest politicians in the country. Who has got the ability to lead the nation? Who has the right policies and plans to make sure in a difficult world where our future is not assured that our nation comes up with a stronger economy, more jobs, and more opportunity? A nation cannot become self-dependant and self-sufficient unless its leaders are corrupt and mean. If the leadership is loyal to the general masses, the country will grow rapidly. Pakistan desperately needs a brave and loyal leader who possesses the real qualities of leadership, a man who could talk to advanced nations or super powers of the world with self esteem and pride. A true leader is needed who could put the country on the right track of progress and success. We need a Leader who can lead the country in the right path of development and can make our nation corruption free.

The nation needs a leader who can provide avenues of growth to the country and the people. The People of Pakistan will make their judgment in May next. In my opinion PML (N) Chief Nawaz Sharif is well-liked in Pakistani community. He looks good, sound even better and radiates an aura of impassioned honesty. He is the leader who does not make promises that he may not be able to keep or give assurances about the future that may not hold true. He gives people reason to believe that their work has meaning, their contributions have value, and their prospects have potential. He is a strong leader, who is decisive, bold, confident, and fearless. In short, he has the makings of a good candidate for Prime Minister, and is capable of getting Pakistan out of crisis. He has the ability to connect to the heart of the people he is leading. Today, the PML (N) has the maximum number of honest politicians as compared to the other political parties. However it is up to the voters to decide who they want to elect. Whoever they vote for, they should vote for Pakistan.
